It is possible to be acceded to the town through the freeway of Palm to Inca, by the highways of Palm, Inca, Bunyola, Alaró, Sencelles and Algaida, Sant Jordi, or by the way of Wall, crossing vineyards and fields of almonds tree and carob trees. Due to its situation, they pass by the town many regular lines of buses, that leave Palm towards diverse towns. He is easy and recommendable also the access in the train Palma-Inca-sa Pobla. |
La Casa de la Villa
The House of Villa the House of Villa (City council) is a building, constructed in 1671 to serve as room of advice, room of the judge, escribanía, prison, quartera (site of sale of the wheat). In the center of the facade the shield of Villa is seen. Two arcs maintained by a central column and another lateral arc form the porch known like "sa Quartera". Architect Guillem Forteza begun the restoration of the building, in 1926. |

La iglesia parroquial
The parochial church the Plaça of the Vila, where it is the city council, is a calm site surrounded by old buildings, from where we can accede to the parochial church, to about one hundred meters. This church, blessed partly in 1718, is a good sample of the baroque Majorcan. In 1737 the ship and the chapels already were finished, and in 1751 the work of the bell tower began. The greater vestibule, stone fact of Inca, Puigpunyent and Binissalem, began in 1756, and in him the escultores Rafel Torres and Francesc Obrador worked. |
Els Hostals
Although the environs of the city council and the parochial church form the traditional center of the town, the environs of the highway of Palm to Inca, with the seat of the Hostals like neuralgic point, are the most commercial and active zone of Santa Maria. El convento de los Mínimos
The convent of the Minimums in Els Hostals cannot be let visit claustro convent of the Minimums, constructedin century XVII by Lluc Mesquida, also finished in 1697 was occupied by the minimum order from 1682 to century XIX. In claustro we found a rest backwater, where there is to pay attention to all its details: stone wells, columns and a cross of way, or term, coming from Alaró. The conventual building now is occupied by a museum of the Conrado family, proprietor of the place, with furniture, religious pictures, diverse ornamentos is historical pieces.
Next to claustro we see the bell tower of the church of the convent, construction of century XVIII, the second bell tower of the town, that counts on a beautiful sun clock. Inside the church there are diverse paintings of centuries XVIII, XIX and XX. |
Sa Sínia
In a corner of the seat dels Hostals is a stone well of the century XVII, now recovered, that before was a chain dump (sínia), and where in the lengths and dry summers people made provision of water to drink. This ancient well, judging by the great stones that form them walls of their interior, probably goes back to the talayótica time.

Valley of Coanegra
From Santa Maria diverse excursions in car can be undertaken, bicycle or on foot. One of more recommendable them is the one than, starting off of the station of the train, it goes to the north towards the valley of Coanegra and to the cave "Son Pou". |
