A Great Variety of Routes
Mallorca has a wealth of different landscapes, with the hilly Serra de Llevant on the northeast coast, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the northwest, and the inland flat regions. The road network is well developed and in recent months and years many new cycle paths have been created. Whether you are on a road bike, mountain bike or a trekking bike, Mallorca is enchanting with its breath-taking landscapes and varied coastlines. You can cycle through olive groves and almond tree plantations through the interior of Mallorca at your own pace. Narrow paved tracks, framed by stone walls, run through the flat regions of the south coast whereas the coastal roads in the west of the island are generally seen as more of a challenge. Between Port d'Andratx and Pollença, the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains stretch to the sea, and you can really see the best of the fantastic views of the rugged coastline from the saddle.

Enjoy a spot of coastal cycling
The coasts of Mallorca are a perfect place to enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine. On the north coast, the resort of Alcúdiais a good starting point, located in the bay of the same name. To the north, cycling tours take you by S'Albufera Natural Park and the resort of Can Picafort, all the way to Port d'Pollença. Long beaches may tempt you to go swimming on the way. On the south coast easy bike rides lead along the Playa de Palma to the island capital, Palma de Mallorca. You can take a rather pleasant tour past the eight-kilometre long sandy beach along the beach promenade. Away from the tourist hustle and bustle, you can enjoy the sheer tranquility of the Mediterranean landscape in the interior of Mallorca. In the surroundings of Inca and Sineu, you will pass by pine trees and orange groves and why not recharge your batteries under a gnarled olive tree?

Road cycling and mountain bike tours
Mallorca is a Mecca for racing cyclists. International racing teams prepare for the coming season on the island each spring. In addition to the flat stretches on the south coast, the main focus is on the winding mountain roads in the Serra de Tramuntana. The mountain range is criss-crossed by several paved roads with challenging slopes. Numerous bike rental companies on the island have racing bikes in their range, so you can reach new heights in your holiday in Mallorca. Mountain bikers have the choice between rocky single trails in the Tramuntana mountains and more moderate slopes in the Serra de Llevant. Popular destinations include ancient monasteries and hermitages standing on the peaks of medium-sized mountains. The monastery of Santuari de Sant Salvador and the Ermita de Betlem can only be reached on winding roads with hairpin bends, which really challenge your fitness and stamina levels.
