Agabar in Palma is a Mexican-inspired cocktail bar in the Santa Catalina district, specialising in agave distillates. At Carrer de la Fàbrica 14A, in the heart of the so-called Arty District between the market and the Paseo Marítimo, everything here revolves around agave — served with genuine knowledge rather than tourist folklore. What makes Agabar special The name says it all: Agabar lives out its passion for agave and keeps one of the broadest agave-spirit selections in Palma. Alongside tequila and mezcal you'll find rarer distillates such as sotol, raicilla and bacanora — the agave list is so extensive it is kept in Spanish, while the cocktail menu comes in both English and Spanish. The team asks about your taste first and then makes a targeted recommendation — an approach praised by guests and press alike. The owners are known for being unusually warm; some regulars even buy whole bottles of mezcal here, complete with a traditional drinking vessel. Drinks & menu The cocktails balance bold flavours with a clean hand. A signature drink is the "Ensamble", described on the menu as a "porn star martini, but really Mexican" — mezcal, pineapple, passion-fruit juice and citrus, light and refreshing with the sweet depth of mezcal. Also popular: the "Tinderazo en Tulum" with Kraken rum, mint, lime, agave syrup and tepache, the fermented pineapple drink. If you prefer the classics, you'll get well thought-out margaritas — such as the Margarita Verde or the Paloma —, micheladas or mojitos, plus a decent gin selection. Instead of full meals, small accompaniments arrive at the table — the homemade guacamole, which you can have assembled at your table, is a cult favourite, rounded out by chips and nibbles. Atmosphere & location Inside, you sit intimately amid moody lighting and plush seating; the interior was recently revamped. Outside, a coveted terrace beckons on one of Santa Catalina's liveliest streets — perfect for people-watching. The curated playlist of soul, funk and chilled electronic keeps the mood grown-up and unhurried: no kitsch, no show, just well-made drinks.
