Training in a former nightclub

Agelai Gym has made its home in the former Farah's nightclub — and the club's original infrastructure has stayed put. Neon lights, a disco ball, and a fully functioning sound and lighting system are all part of the workout experience. Loud music plays throughout your session, so you can happily leave your headphones at home. This atmosphere runs through the entire studio and sets it apart noticeably from your average holiday gym.

What's on offer

The studio has a machine area alongside a separate free weights zone with squat racks, a barbell, and dumbbells. Downstairs you'll find additional studio space, and there's an outdoor calisthenics area too. On top of free training, classes — including Zumba — and personal training are available. Some visitors have noted that a few pieces of kit, particularly in the leg section, are on the older or worn side; the free weights zone, however, gets consistently positive feedback. The changing rooms are on the small side, so it's worth arriving already changed. In summer, training earlier in the day is a good idea, as the studio relies on fans rather than air conditioning.
