Description
Bar Alberca in the Llevant neighbourhood of Palma is a traditional Mallorcan bar best known for its Pa amb Oli toasted over an open wood fire.
Pa amb Oli from the Wood Fire
The heart of Bar Alberca is its Pa amb Oli — Mallorcan bread with oil — toasted directly over the flames of an open hearth. It comes with classic Mallorcan charcuterie: Sobrasada, Camaiot, Butifarrón, pork loin, pork belly, and cured ham. A home-made dish of the day is also on offer, alongside traditional Mallorcan classics such as Arròs brut and Frit.
Authentic Atmosphere
The bar is small and, by all accounts of its regulars, has changed very little over the years — a neighbourhood local in the finest sense, one that has held on to its original character. The fireplace defines both the atmosphere and the cooking. It fills up quickly, so do expect a short wait at busy times.
Location & Getting There
Bar Alberca is located at Carrer del Safareig 16 in the Llevant neighbourhood of Palma. Parking in the surrounding streets is scarce, so it is worth planning ahead.
