Description
The Boquer Valley is a natural valley in Mallorca, reached via a walking trail that leads to the secluded Cala Boquer.
The path to the cove
The trail through the valley passes a hillside farmhouse and goes through two gates — one of them secured with a chain and padlock, which you must close again after passing through — before continuing along a well-worn path towards the sea. The valley itself is largely made up of open fields, with the gorge descending to the cove being the clear scenic highlight.
The descent to Cala Boquer
The final descent to the cove is steep and technically demanding: the path is cut directly into the rock in places and runs through water. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Once you reach the cove, you can swim in the sea — it is not accessible by car from the landward side.
Crowds and when to visit
The trail can get noticeably busy at weekends. If you're after a bit of peace and quiet, setting off early in the morning — before the sun reaches the valley — makes a real difference.
