Cala Del Toro
Description
Cala del Toro is a small, unspoilt rocky cove in Mallorca, reached via a steep stairway descent from the Mirador El Toro viewpoint.
The Cove
Crystal-clear, clean water, natural rock pools, and a peaceful, untouched setting are what make Cala del Toro special. The water is ideal for snorkelling — fish and marine life are easy to spot. There is no sandy beach; the seabed is rocky and stony, so water shoes are strongly recommended. From the cove itself you are treated to stunning views, and the vantage point above offers an equally spectacular outlook over the bay and the sea.
The Descent
Access to the cove is via an old concrete stairway, parts of which are in poor condition and none of which has a handrail. The final stretch before the waterline has crumbled away, meaning you will need to clamber over sandstone. The return climb gains around 40 metres of elevation with no shade, so avoid lugging heavy bags down with you. Sturdy footwear is essential — flip-flops are completely unsuitable for this path. Anyone with limited mobility or a fear of heights should think carefully before attempting the descent.
Atmosphere
The cove has a pleasantly quiet feel with relatively little footfall — arriving early is a good idea, as it does get busier as the day goes on. There are no facilities on site such as a bar or toilets, so it is worth coming prepared.
Location & Getting There
Cala del Toro is situated on Avinguda de la Mar in 07180 Illes Balears. Free off-street parking and free on-street parking are available nearby. Access to the cove starts at the Mirador El Toro viewpoint.
