Cala en Basset
Description
Cala en Basset is a secluded rocky cove in the municipality of Andratx, reachable only on foot or by boat.
Water and Nature
The water at Cala en Basset is crystal clear and deep blue — the cove's defining feature. Bring snorkelling gear and you'll find yourself exploring an underwater world teeming with fish, starfish, octopuses and coral. The cove is surrounded by cliffs and wild Mediterranean scrubland; the rocky shore offers little sand but delivers a dramatic natural setting. Natural clay can be found along the rock faces, which some visitors use as a face mask.
Walking Route from Sant Elm
The usual approach is on foot from Sant Elm, passing through woodland and Mediterranean maquis — a scenic route with some demanding, steep sections just before you arrive. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended, as the path can be slippery. Pack plenty of water, as there are no facilities on site and no mobile signal.
