Cala en Gossalba
Description
Cala en Gossalba is an unspoilt, uninhabited cove within the municipality of Pollença in the north of Mallorca.
Water, nature & what to expect
The water at Cala en Gossalba is crystal clear and clean — making swimming and snorkelling genuinely rewarding. Beneath the surface you'll find shoals of fish clearly visible among expansive Posidonia meadows. The small cove sits in a pristine, undeveloped landscape, and goats occasionally wander across the beach, adding to its wonderfully wild character. If you're arriving by boat, the sandy seabed makes for ideal anchoring.
Getting there: on foot or by boat
Cala en Gossalba can only be reached on foot or by boat. The walking trail begins at the MA-2210 near kilometre marker 14.9, where there is a small car park at a mirador. Parking is free, but spaces are limited and fill up quickly — an early start is well worth it. The walk down to the cove takes under an hour. Worth noting: during the summer months, the MA-2210 towards Cap de Formentor is closed to private vehicles during the day, so it's important to factor this into your plans if you're travelling by car.
Tranquillity & the quieter months
Outside of peak season — around November, for instance — the cove is almost entirely deserted. In August, however, a good number of boats tend to anchor here, which can noticeably reduce the peace and quiet and make swimming a little less comfortable.
