Description
Cala Gran is a sheltered sandy cove in Cala d'Or, Mallorca, celebrated for its turquoise, crystal-clear water and soft white sand.
Water & Beach
The turquoise water at Cala Gran is exceptionally clear and shallow enough to wade in with ease. The fine white sand and clean seabed make the cove a brilliant base for snorkelling trips: steps and ladders on either side of the bay lead directly into the water, where shoals of fish and the occasional octopus can be spotted. The calm, shallow conditions are equally well suited to swimming.
Facilities On Site
Restaurants and toilets are available right on the beach. Sun loungers with a safe can be hired for a fee. Pedal boats are also available to rent on site, and public showers complete the facilities.
Location & Getting There
Cala Gran sits within Cala d'Or, with the town centre just a short walk away. Roadside parking is available nearby — do watch out for uneven ground in the parking area. Excursion boats also depart directly from the cove.
How Busy Does It Get?
The cove is popular and fills up quickly — even outside peak summer, a fine day can mean a squeeze for space. If you prefer a spot close to the water's edge, it's worth arriving early.
