Cala Llamp
Description
Cala Llamp is a rocky cove near Andratx in the south-west of Mallorca, celebrated for its turquoise, crystal-clear water and dramatic clifftop scenery.
Rock, not sand — and proud of it
Cala Llamp doesn't greet you with sand or pebbles — it greets you with pure rock, and that's entirely the point. The water is turquoise and exceptionally clear, the cove is small and framed by steep cliffs that form part of the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range. Rising directly above the bay is the peak of Sa Talia, sitting between Sa Punta des Cocó and Morro des Garrover. If you fancy snorkelling, you'll find colourful fish and underwater rock formations just beneath the surface. Access to the water is via rocks and a set of steps.
Beach club and a free bathing area
A large part of the cove is home to the Gran Folies Beach Club, which offers sun loungers and a pool. If you'd rather not use the paid area, a stairway leads down to a free bathing spot — though the route does pass through the beach club's grounds. There's also a restaurant right at the water's edge with lovely sea views.
Location and getting there
Cala Llamp falls within the municipality of Andratx. Parking is tight: there are free spaces available, but numbers are limited, so arriving early really pays off. The cove is also reachable on foot from Port d'Andratx, though the path is hilly.
