Cala Matzoc
Description
Cala Matzoc is an unspoilt cove on Mallorca's north-east coast, reachable only on foot or by boat.
An unspoilt cove with crystal-clear water
Cala Matzoc greets you with turquoise-clear water and a wild, untouched setting. The beach itself is a mix of sand, stones and driftwood — there's no infrastructure whatsoever. Snorkellers will find excellent conditions here: the water is clear, and fish as well as octopus are a regular sight. On calm days the shallow entry areas are perfectly fine for children, though it's best to skip swimming altogether when the swell picks up.
Getting there: on foot or by boat only
The cove is accessible solely on foot or by boat — no public transport comes anywhere near. If you're driving, you'll find parking nearby and then head the rest of the way on foot. The coastal paths wind over rocky terrain with sheer drop-offs and reward you with spectacular views of the clifftop scenery. If you'd like to combine the visit with a look at the nearby tower, the coastal trails make that easy enough.
Seclusion and nature
Precisely because Cala Matzoc takes a bit of effort to reach, it stays far quieter than more accessible beaches. Pine trees at the edge of the cove provide natural shade. The landscape is pristine; the occasional excursion boat does moor in the bay. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy footwear and you'll be well set for the journey.
