Description

Cala Varques is a secluded natural cove in S'Estany d'en Mas, reachable only on foot or by boat.

White Sand and Turquoise Water

Cala Varques welcomes you with a clean white sandy beach and crystal-clear turquoise water. Striking cliffs frame the cove on both sides, while caves, rock arches and other natural formations shape the landscape. Venture a little further and you'll discover a second, even quieter cove. The water is ideal for snorkelling, and the cliffs offer jumping spots for those who fancy a bit of coasteering or cliff-jumping.

Location & Getting There

The cove is located at F7XW+XC in S'Estany d'en Mas. By car, the nearest stopping point is the car park — from there it's roughly a 30 to 45-minute walk to the cove. Part of the route follows a gravel track, which then gives way to a rocky path with uneven, slippery ground; you'll also need to climb over some walls along the way. If you're setting off from Cala Romàntica, allow extra time. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are strongly recommended. Parking spaces are limited, so arriving early is well worth it.

Natural Rock Bridge

If you head beyond the beach, you'll reach a natural rock bridge with strikingly deep blue water beneath it. The detour takes around another half an hour after arriving at the beach.

Arriving by Boat

The cove can also be reached by boat as an alternative to the walk. A glass-bottomed boat visits Cala Varques on a coastal route that stops at two natural caves. Swimming in the sea is possible during the boat trip. If you're arriving by boat, it's worth keeping an eye on the current sea conditions.
