The Camí del Correu is a historic walking route in Esporles that follows an old messenger's path through the Serra de Tramuntana to Banyalbufar.
An old messenger's path with real character
The Camí del Correu traces a historic connection between Esporles and Banyalbufar. The path is cobbled throughout with natural stone, flanked by dry-stone walls and terraces, and in excellent condition. It forms part of the GR-221, linking it into a wider walking network. The profile is moderate — the start and finish ask for a little more effort, while the middle section is pleasantly easygoing.
Landscape and atmosphere
Shaded woodland stretches — including sections through oak forest — keep conditions comfortable even on warmer days. Sweeping views across mountains and sea, combined with a peaceful, unspoilt feel, define the character of the route. Banyalbufar makes for a wonderful coastal finale at the far end.
Getting your bearings
The walk begins near the church of Sant Pere d'Esporles — the entry takes you up a short climb alongside a stone wall. Parking is available in the village. The route is well signposted, and you can either retrace your steps for a there-and-back walk or plan a one-way trip and catch the TIB bus back from Banyalbufar.
Who is it for?
The route is considered family-friendly and suits beginners as well as more experienced walkers. As the path is predominantly cobbled, it is not recommended for pushchairs. Dogs are very welcome.
