Description
Ca'n Joan de s'Aigo is a traditional café, ice cream parlour, and pastry shop in the heart of Palma, with a history spanning over 300 years.
History & Atmosphere
Founded around 1700 by Joan Thomàs from Valldemossa, Ca'n Joan de s'Aigo is one of Palma's oldest coffee houses. The interior is steeped in old-world charm, defined by a nostalgic, authentically Mallorcan character that leaves a lasting impression on visitors from all over the world.
Specialities
The stars of the menu are the homemade ensaimadas — light, fluffy, and freshly made. Alongside these, the hot chocolate, handcrafted ice cream (including almond, hazelnut, strawberry, apricot, and milk varieties), almond cake (gató), coca de cuarto, coca de patata, and empanada are all firm fixtures. Ensaimadas are also available to take away, both plain and filled.
Location
The café is located at Carrer del Baró de Santa Maria del Sepulcre 5 in the Centre district of Palma (07012). It sits within the old town and is easily reached on foot.
Good to Know
Payment is handled at a self-service checkout. The entrance and toilets are fully accessible. Food and drinks can be enjoyed on the spot or taken away. The café is well suited to families with children as well as larger groups.
