Description
Cases de Binifaldó is an environmental education centre and mountain refuge in Escorca, set in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana on Mallorca.
Refuge and Environmental Education Centre
Since 1985, Cases de Binifaldó has served as both an environmental education centre and a refuge. The building offers dormitory-style bedrooms with bunk beds for groups, a large dining and activities room, common rooms, a generous industrial kitchen, and showers with toilets. The accommodation forms part of the public protected-area network and is managed by the Balearic Institute for Nature Conservation. The neighbouring estate of Menut is also publicly owned.
Nature and Walking
The site sits at the foot of Puig Tomir at around 1,100 metres above sea level, surrounded by lush vegetation dominated by holm oaks. The rugged mountain landscape lends the place a quiet, completely nature-immersed atmosphere. Several walking routes set off directly from here, and the area is well suited to gentle strolls with children as well as wildlife spotting. Clear nights free from light pollution also make for excellent stargazing.
Getting There
Cases de Binifaldó is located on the Ma-10 road in Escorca. No public bus route serves the site directly, so your own vehicle is essential. Advance booking is required, and it is strongly advisable to reserve well ahead of your intended stay.
