This protected status covers both the power station itself and the residential buildings opposite, where the plant's workers once lived. That housing settlement is currently undergoing restoration.

The power station has been out of service for many years. Its raw industrial architecture and the gradual decay of the site have made it a well-known subject for photographers. The grounds are fenced off and monitored by security cameras, so access is not permitted. The complex sits on the Carretera d'Alcanada in Alcúdia.
