Description
The Centre Històric d'Alcúdia is a medieval old town at the heart of Alcúdia in the north of Mallorca, enclosed by a largely intact set of historic city walls.
City Walls and Cobbled Lanes
The historic centre is framed by medieval walls and towers that have been preserved in remarkably good condition. You can walk along the battlements and take in sweeping views across the old town and the surrounding countryside. The narrow, cobbled lanes within the walls carry a strong medieval atmosphere, and the whole quarter is kept clean and well maintained.
Shops, Cafés and Evening Atmosphere
Along the lanes you'll find an array of independent shops, craft boutiques, cafés and restaurants. In the evenings the old town comes alive and takes on a wonderful quality in the fading light, making a night-time visit a rewarding experience in its own right.
Weekly Market
The Sunday market, held at the foot of the city walls and spilling into several of the inner streets, is particularly lively and well worth a visit.
Getting There
The historic centre is located at Plaça de la Constitució, 07400 Alcúdia. The old town is easily reached by bus — the terminus is right beside the city walls. If you're driving, there is a large car park close by.
