Description
Centro Cultural Can Balaguer is a restored aristocratic palace in the heart of Palma, open to the public as a cultural centre with a permanent collection and rotating exhibitions.
A palace with its original interior intact
Behind an unassuming façade lies a remarkable manor house whose piano nobile is still furnished with original furniture, artworks and household objects. The living rooms, with their extraordinary ceiling heights, paint a vivid picture of life among wealthy Mallorcan families in centuries gone by. A particular highlight is a self-built organ that has been preserved right in the middle of the living quarters. The courtyard ensemble is another standout, welcoming visitors as they pass through on their way up to the exhibition floor.
Temporary exhibitions and a wider cultural programme
Alongside the permanent collection, Can Balaguer regularly hosts temporary and photography exhibitions. Concerts and workshops have also taken place here, including programmes featuring craftspeople, designers and artists, as well as musical events.
Right in the centre of Palma
The cultural centre is located at Carrer Unió 3 in Palma city centre, postcode 07001.
Admission and accessibility
Entry is free of charge. The building has a step-free entrance and accessible toilet facilities.
