Description

The Club Ferroviario Vaporista de Mallorca runs the Parque Ferroviario de Marratxí in Es Caülls — a railway park featuring a garden railway circuit and a museum dedicated to the history of Mallorca's narrow-gauge railways.

Garden Railway and Historic Rolling Stock

The centrepiece of the park is a double-track garden railway loop built for 5" and 7¼" gauge trains, where both children and adults are welcome to ride. The circuit includes a short and a long hump as well as a station with a through track. An engine shed with a workshop, turntable, and pit for firing up the steam locomotives is also part of the site. Alongside the rides, a museum area adds real depth to the visit: inside the station building, exhibits and photographs chart the story of Mallorca's narrow-gauge railway network. Both electric trains and steam locomotives run on the line.

Volunteer-Run and Passion-Driven

The park is a club project on a municipal plot of land belonging to the council of Marratxí. Volunteer club members run the whole operation and are on hand to welcome visitors throughout. The well-kept grounds also include a generous picnic area that's perfect for a leisurely break, with child-sized tables provided as well.

Location & Getting There

The Parque Ferroviario de Marratxí is located on Carrer d'Antoni Planas Juan in Es Caülls. Parking is available nearby. Although the surface looks like gravel, a marked blue path runs across the site that is fully accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, and a ramp leads up to the platform.
