Description

Cova del Marbre is a natural cave hiking destination in Calvià, in the south-west of Mallorca, that calls for a spirit of adventure and a decent amount of off-road experience.

The Cave

Cova del Marbre consists of four large chambers connected by a series of tight climbing passages. Venturing deeper inside requires proper terrain experience and the right kit — without these, the true beauty of the cave can really only be glimpsed from the entrance area.

Location & Surroundings

Cova del Marbre is located near Calvià (07184), close to the Mirador de n'Alzamora viewpoint. The descent from the Mirador down to the cave is steep and demanding. Those willing to make the climb up to the nearby tower will be rewarded with a fantastic view from the top.

Good to Know Before You Visit

The entrance is tricky to find and should not be confused with two other openings further up — once you've found the right one, turn immediately left. The path leading to the entrance is in a poor state of repair in places. Young children and pets should not be brought along. If you're planning to use the cave as a stop-off point on a longer hike, be prepared for the expansive and rugged terrain surrounding it.
