Description

The Cova prehistòrica Son Caulelles – also known as Cova des Moro – is a prehistoric archaeological site in Marratxinet, a district of the municipality of Marratxí.

A hypogeum from prehistoric times

At the heart of the site is a hypogeum cut directly into the rock. The entrance lies 1.8 metres below ground level: a trench roughly 2.5 metres long and around 70 centimetres wide, with three steps leading down into it. The fact that the pit widens towards the bottom suggests it was originally covered with stone slabs.

Where to find it

The site is located on Carrer d'Antoni Jaume in Marratxinet (07141). VisitMarratxí describes it as the most significant prehistoric archaeological monument in the entire municipality of Marratxí.
