Description
El Fumat is a mountain summit in Mallorca, well known both as a hiking destination and a climbing spot.
Summit Views & Hiking Route
From the top of El Fumat, you're rewarded with far-reaching views across the landscape. A popular route sets off from the Cala Figuera car park, heads up to the summit, and then descends towards Cala Murta. Both the ascent and descent call for sure footing — it's best to give it a miss on windy days.
Climbing at El Fumat
El Fumat boasts a striking climbing wall divided into two main sectors. The right-hand side is dominated by a steep face with a tough overhang, where routes range in difficulty from 6b to 7c+. There are also several multi-pitch routes on offer. The wall receives very little sun and can remain slippery even after a prolonged dry spell — something worth factoring in when planning your visit. The approach from the valley takes around 30 minutes.
Where to Find It
El Fumat sits within the 07460 postcode area of Mallorca, in the northern part of the island in the Formentor region.
