Es Malgrat
Description
Es Malgrat is a small island group off the coast of Mallorca, known as a natural area for watersports, snorkelling, and peaceful time by the sea.
Islets with crystal-clear water
The islets of Es Malgrat are not accessible on foot — to get up close, you'll need to arrive by boat, kayak, canoe, or jet ski. The water surrounding the islands is crystal-clear and clean, and as a natural park, the area is home to a rich underwater world of fish and seabed life. A snorkel mask is well worth bringing. The islands also serve as a bird habitat; if you venture near any nests, be prepared for some territorial behaviour from the locals.
Sunsets and sweeping views
From the nearby coastline, you can take in the view of the islets from the mainland too: dramatic cliffs, wide-open vistas, and — on a clear day — spectacular sunsets. There are benches where you can sit and soak it all in. On fine evenings the spot is popular and can get lively, with locals and visitors alike making the most of it.
Getting there & starting points
By kayak, Es Malgrat is reachable from Santa Ponça in around half an hour; the islands have also been paddled to by canoe from Port Adriano. The coastal viewpoint is just a few minutes' walk from the road. Santa Ponça is the most convenient starting point.
