Description
The Far de la Torre d'en Beu is a historic watchtower with an adjoining lighthouse on the coast of Santanyí, in the south-east of Mallorca, close to Cala Figuera.
Tower, Lighthouse and Coastal Views
At the entrance to Cala Figuera, two eras stand side by side: a 16th-century watchtower and a lighthouse built in 1953, both perched on the cliffs of south-east Mallorca. The tower itself is not open to visitors, but the real draw is the view — from the cliff edge you look out over the bay of Cala Figuera, the harbour entrance and the open sea. When the swell is up and the waves crash against the rocks, the scene is genuinely dramatic.
Well Worth a Visit at Sunset
The evening light transforms this spot into a destination in its own right. The combination of cliff edge, sweeping sea views and a setting sun makes it a firm favourite. Come during the day and you'll find a beautiful stretch of coastline — come in the evening and you'll see it in an entirely different light.
Getting There & the Surrounding Area
The Far de la Torre d'en Beu lies within the municipality of Santanyí (07659). From the fishing village of Cala Figuera, a short path leads up to the tower; the final stretch must be covered on foot, though you can leave the car near the access point. The walk through the village itself already offers lovely glimpses of the surroundings. The path is uneven and not suitable for wheelchairs.
