Description

The Faro de Capdepera is an active lighthouse at the easternmost point of Mallorca — a vantage point with sweeping panoramic views across the Mediterranean, the cliffs, and the rugged coastline.

The Lighthouse

In operation since 1861, the white 18-metre tower stands on a clifftop plateau and continues to serve as an active navigational aid. The lighthouse grounds themselves are fenced off and not open to visitors — but the viewpoints surrounding it offer a vast panorama that makes the trip more than worthwhile on its own.

Views & Highlights

The panorama stretches far across the Mediterranean, the surrounding cliffs, and the jagged coastline. On clear days, Menorca is visible from here. The spot is at its most captivating in the early morning at sunrise and in the evening during the golden hour — the stillness and the sheer expanse of the sea horizon define the experience. A signposted walking trail marked in blue leads downhill from the lighthouse, rewarding walkers with additional views along the coast.

Getting There & Parking

The Faro de Capdepera is located at Carrer de sa Comassa 5 in Capdepera (07590). The access road is narrow and winding, with barely enough room for two vehicles to pass each other. Parking directly at the lighthouse is very limited, though free on-street parking is available nearby. The site is also reachable on foot or by bicycle.
