Description
The Federación Balear de Actividades Subacuáticas (FBDAS) is the Balearic Islands' governing body for underwater sports, based in Palma.
What the federation does
The FBDAS handles the administration and issuing of licences — including those for underwater fishing. You can apply for or renew a licence directly through the federation or via one of its affiliated clubs. Current licence status can also be checked online. The federation works closely with the Govern Balear, and the two have jointly produced a species identification guide covering the most important coastal fish of the Balearic Islands.
Disciplines & sports
The federation represents the following disciplines: underwater fishing, photo-hunting in freediving, fin swimming, scuba diving, and freediving (apnoea).
Where to find the federation
The office is located in the Nord district of Palma, at Carrer de l'Uruguai, 07010. If you're planning to visit in person, it's worth checking ahead whether someone will be available — staff are not always on the premises. Contact by email, however, is reliably answered.
