Description
Forn d'es Molí is a traditional Mallorcan bakery on the Plaça des Pou in the small village of Es Llombards in the south-east of the island.
Craftsmanship from the wood-fired oven
At Forn d'es Molí, everything is made the traditional way — crafted by hand and baked in a wood-fired oven. The bread, including the Mallorcan xeixa loaf (pa de xeixa) made from an ancient wheat variety, is the bakery's signature product and comes highly recommended. The crust is wonderfully crisp and the quality thoroughly artisanal. Alongside the bread, ensaimadas are a staple of the range — available in small classic versions as well as a chocolate-filled variety. If you'd like a larger filled ensaimada, you can place an order over the phone in advance.
A proper Mallorcan selection
The range of traditional specialities includes panades, coca de trampó, empanadas, apricot coca and coques de patata. The sweet offerings change regularly, keeping things interesting with every visit. Coffee is also served, making it a lovely spot for breakfast or a quick snack.
The heart of the village
The bakery sits right on Plaça des Pou 1 in Es Llombards — a quiet, unhurried village in the south-east of Mallorca where this little shop is very much a local gathering point. Spanish is the main language, but ordering is perfectly straightforward even without any language skills; a friendly point and a smile goes a long way.
