Description
Fornet de la Soca is a traditional Mallorcan bakery and patisserie in Palma, crafting sweet and savoury island specialities by hand using age-old recipes.
Mallorcan Craftsmanship on Display
At Fornet de la Soca, everything revolves around the island's baking tradition: ensaïmades in a variety of styles, empanadas, cocas and a wealth of other sweet and savoury bakes fill the display cases. Filled ensaïmades — such as those with custard cream or apricot — are among the most celebrated items in the house. The coca de pimientos and a plaited ensaïmada are also particularly popular with visitors. If you prefer to avoid animal products, you're well catered for too: vegan options feature in the range, and the staff are happy to point you in the right direction. In summer, an almond granizado rounds off the menu beautifully.
An Atmosphere Steeped in History
The interior of the bakery carries the warm patina of a bygone era: traditional fittings, vintage photographs and a shop-front window that many visitors describe as an experience in itself. A peek into the bakehouse lets you watch the goods being prepared right before your eyes. The shop itself is small, and there is no seating inside.
Located on the Plaça de Weyler
The bakery sits at Plaça de Weyler 9 in the heart of Palma's city centre. The entrance is step-free, and the staff are always on hand to assist wheelchair users without any fuss. Orders can also be placed for collection or delivered directly to you.
