The Fotopoint Cap Formentor is a viewpoint at the northern tip of Mallorca, offering panoramic views of dramatic sea cliffs, the open sea, and the winding road that snakes its way to the cape.

Views & Atmosphere

Sheer cliffs, turquoise sea, and the sweeping road below — with cyclists tackling every hairpin bend — all come together in one breathtaking panorama at the Fotopoint Cap Formentor. Sunrise and the golden late-afternoon light are particularly spectacular. Out of season, or if you arrive early, the viewpoint feels wonderfully peaceful; in summer and from late morning onwards, it can get extremely busy.

Getting There & Parking

Access by private car is subject to restrictions: outside the restricted periods the road is open to vehicles, whilst during the day buses run a shuttle service to the cape — tickets are available from the driver and card payment is accepted. The car park at the viewpoint is small and fills up quickly, especially on sunny days, so if you're driving it's well worth making an early start. Free parking spaces and free on-street parking are available nearby.

Location

The viewpoint is situated at Cap Formentor, 07460 Illes Balears, on the peninsula of the same name in the north of Mallorca. The winding approach road demands full concentration, and you'll share it with a great many cyclists.

Can I drive up at any time?
No. Access by private car is restricted to certain periods; outside these times, buses run to the tip of the peninsula. Bus tickets can be purchased from the driver by card.
When is it least crowded?
Early in the morning — the car park can already be very full around sunrise. Even out of season, it tends to get busy from late morning onwards.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are not permitted at the viewpoint.
