Description
The Fundació Biblioteca de Alcudia Can Torró is a public library in Alcúdia, housed in a historic Mallorcan manor house.
A Historic Manor House Turned Library
The building was once home to the Torró family — a traditional Mallorcan manor house that now serves as a library. The inner courtyard, with its mature trees, is one of the most atmospheric parts of the house: even on the hottest summer days, you can settle down to read in the cool shade of the canopy. The various rooms are divided by age group, and there is also a periodicals area along with a basement room used for presentations and events such as readings by local authors.
What's on Offer
The library lends books and provides computers and printing services for visitors. A library card is required to borrow books; loans last two weeks and can be renewed if needed. Entry is free.
Cultural Programme
Alongside its everyday library life, Can Torró runs a lively cultural programme. Art exhibitions, music evenings, opera and jazz all make it a genuine venue at the heart of Alcúdia. There is also a dedicated programme of activities for children.
Finding Us
The library is located at Carrer d'En Serra 15 in the centre of Alcúdia.
