Description
The Museu d'Història de Manacor is a history museum in Manacor that traces the story of the town and the Llevant region from prehistory right through to the present day.
From prehistory to the present
The permanent exhibition takes you through the ages — from prehistoric times through the Roman period and late antiquity to medieval Islamic Mallorca. Archaeological finds, ceramics, Roman coins and mosaics offer a tangible window into local heritage. The galleries are clearly laid out, well documented and equipped with informative explanatory panels. Temporary exhibitions complement the permanent collection; past highlights have included shows on pigments and colour as well as one on climate change.
Interactive and family-friendly
The museum is designed with families firmly in mind: children can handle reproductions, solve puzzles and games, and explore scent stations that bring the smells of the past to life. These hands-on, sensory approaches to history run throughout the entire exhibition, making a visit genuinely engaging for younger visitors too.
The building: Torre dels Enagistes
The museum is housed in the historic Torre dels Enagistes, a building dating from the 13th or 14th century. The beautifully restored structure is an exhibit in its own right — its architecture and the well-tended grounds, complete with a herb and native plant garden, are very much part of the experience.
Location & getting here
The museum is located on the Carretera de Cales de Mallorca at kilometre 1.5, on the outskirts of Manacor. A car park is available directly in front of the building.
