Kaotikobar sits in S'Illot on the east coast of Mallorca, on Carrer del Tamarell, a few steps from the bay and right in the middle of the densest run of bars in the resort. The kitchen at Kaotikobar The dish the house shows most often is the Milanesa Champi: a breaded cutlet with a robust mushroom sauce and golden potatoes alongside. Next to it stand the Nachos Kaotiko, a plateful named after the house itself and ordered accordingly often. Vegetarian dishes are a fixed part of the menu, and anyone who would rather not stay can take the food away. The tone turns especially warm at dessert. The tarta de queso is baked in house, and the chocolate coulant arrives with ice cream. Both are unfussy and good precisely for that reason: no towers, no tricks, just two classics that land. The bar and Kaotapas next door The bar is not an afterthought. The cocktails are mixed by someone who knows the craft and takes the time for it — not a long drink thrown together at speed, but drinks made on purpose. There it is about tapas, beer, wine and vermouth by the sea. Different tapas are prepared every day, and you choose straight from the display case what comes with your drink. S'Illot around it S'Illot was a fishing village before it became a holiday resort, and both are still visible. The bay also goes by the name Cala Moreya, the sand is pale and the water shelves gently. Sa Coma adjoins to the north, the rocky Cala Morlanda without a sandy beach to the south. The Torrent de n'Amer splits the place between two municipalities: Manacor on one side, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar on the other. Carrer del Tamarell is a short street where bars, cafés and a chiringuito sit shoulder to shoulder; Kaotikobar belongs to that row, and you can tell from the street that something happens here in the evenings. Sitting outside is possible, dogs are welcome, families and larger groups too.
