Description
La Tafona de Can Det is a historic olive mill in Sóller offering guided tours with tastings.
A Family Tradition Since the 16th Century
Can Det represents a family tradition stretching back to the 16th century. The tour centres on the mill's historic machinery and the traditional methods used to produce olive oil. Taking in the house, the garden and the mill itself, the visit blends a close look at the production process with fascinating insights into Mallorcan agriculture and history.
The Tour & Tasting
After exploring the mill, guests are treated to a tasting of local produce: olive oil, bread, olives, tomatoes, almond cake, orange marmalade and freshly squeezed orange juice. From mid-October to January the mill is in active production, so you can watch the whole process in action. Tours in languages other than English can be arranged when there are enough participants. Home-made products including marmalade, almonds and olive oil are also available to buy on site.
The Estate & Its Atmosphere
Beyond the mill itself, the estate takes in olive groves, orange and lemon orchards and ancient olive trees. The historic family home, full of genuine character, provides the setting for the tasting. The owners welcome guests personally and lead every tour with real passion.
