Description
The Mercat d'Artà is a weekly market and flea market held in the heart of Artà, in the north-east of Mallorca.
What to expect
The market is split into two areas: inside the covered market hall you'll find fresh produce, whilst outside, stalls line up offering clothing, jewellery, flowers, vegetables, fruit, meat and handmade goods. Local products are a staple of the offering. As with many markets in Spain, counterfeit branded goods can crop up among the clothing and fashion stalls — it's worth keeping that in mind.
Market day & crowds
The market takes place every Tuesday. On busy days — particularly during the summer months — it gets lively, and parking spots in the narrow lanes around the market fill up quickly. If you're travelling from Cala Ratjada, hopping on the local bus is a great way to sidestep any parking hassle.
How to find it
The market is held at Plaça del Conqueridor in the centre of Artà (07570). The village itself, with its distinctive sandstone architecture, is well served by public bus routes.
