Description

The Mercat del Dijous is Inca's weekly market, spreading through the heart of the town centre every Thursday.

A market that spans the whole town

The stalls stretch from the railway station all the way to the Plaça d'Orient, taking in the Plaça de la Quartera, the Gran Via de Colom, Carrer de Jaume Armengol and General Luque, the Plaça de Santa Maria la Major, and Carrer de la Sirena. You'll find clothing, shoes, bags, fresh food, fruit and vegetables, cured meats, plants and flowers, spices, household goods, toys, and local crafts.

Local produce and leatherware

Inca has a long tradition of leatherworking, and leather goods feature among the stalls. The fresh fruit, vegetable, and local produce stands are a draw for anyone after regional specialities. If leather goods or local products are top of your list, it's worth browsing carefully — these items sit alongside a broad general market offer, and the selection in those categories can be limited.

Entertainment and atmosphere

Live music, dancing, and other performances regularly take place throughout the market, making it well worth lingering a little longer.

Location and getting there

The market's main address is Carrer d'en Jaume Armengol 4 in Inca. It starts right at Inca railway station, which has a direct rail connection to Palma — a very handy option if you'd rather leave the car at home. If you do drive, finding a parking space in the town centre on market day can take some patience.
