A Shop from a Bygone Era

Merceria Duran is one of the few remaining haberdasheries of its kind in Mallorca. The range runs from pyjamas, fabrics and yarns to underwear, socks and knitwear — and covered buttons are still made here the old-fashioned, handcrafted way. The shop is well stocked for all everyday haberdashery needs.

History & Management

The earliest known mention of Merceria Duran dates back to 1941, though Jaume Cañellas, son of former owner Bàrbara Duran, believes the business could be even older. The siblings' grandfather originally set the shop up for his three daughters; Bàrbara Duran, the youngest, went on to run it. Today, the reins are held by Andreu Cañellas.
