Description
The Mirador de la Trapa is a viewpoint within the municipality of Andratx in the south-west of Mallorca, reachable only on foot.
Views & Appeal
From the Mirador de la Trapa, your gaze stretches out over the island of Sa Dragonera and the open sea. Arriving at dusk, you'll be rewarded with a sunset over the water — a moment that stands out for anyone who makes the effort. Because the spot is only accessible on foot, it stays noticeably quieter than viewpoints you can drive up to. The site also holds old buildings that speak to the history of the Trappist monks who once settled here.
Getting There & the Ascent
The starting point for the ascent is Sant Elm. From there, two paths lead up: a shorter one of around 1.8 km that involves a little scrambling, and a longer one of around 4.8 km. Driving up is not an option — the track is unsuitable for ordinary vehicles, and many visitors who have attempted it by hire car have had to turn back. The Mirador is also a point along the GR221 long-distance route.
