Mirador des Balconet (Pujador des Frares)

Description

The Mirador des Balconet (Pujador des Frares) is a clifftop viewpoint near Llucmajor on Mallorca.

Views and Nature

From this viewpoint you look out over dramatic sea cliffs and crystal-clear water. On calm days, the small rocky cove is ideal for swimming and snorkelling — the water is exceptionally clean and you can easily spot fish beneath the surface. Benches let you soak up the panorama at your leisure or enjoy a picnic. Among those in the know, the Mirador des Balconet is a well-established favourite for watching the sunset.

Descending to the Sea

Wooden steps and boardwalks lead down from the viewpoint to the level of the rocks, where a small jetty lets you step straight into the water. There is no sandy beach — the ground is entirely rocky. The walk back up to the car park takes around ten minutes.

Location and Getting There

The viewpoint lies within the municipality of Llucmajor (07609). Access is via a steep, winding road that is manageable in a standard hire car but does require your full attention. A car park sits close to the start of the wooden boardwalks; from there it is roughly 150 metres to the viewpoint itself. The site is only reachable by your own vehicle.

Crowds and Atmosphere

Outside the summer months the spot is peaceful and sees few visitors. At the height of summer it can get noticeably busier. If you are after tranquillity, a visit outside the peak season is the better choice.
