Description

The Museu Monogràfic de Pollèntia in Alcúdia displays finds from the ancient Roman city of Pollentia, housed in a beautiful 14th-century building.

The Collection

The museum brings together original finds from the excavations of the Roman city of Pollentia: statues and sculptural heads, pieces of armour, coins, jewellery, sewing needles, architectural fragments and everyday objects. These are complemented by models and reconstructions showing what parts of ancient Pollentia may once have looked like. Well cared for and thoughtfully presented, the pieces include small personal items that offer a surprisingly intimate glimpse into daily life in the Roman settlement.

How It Works with the Archaeological Site

The museum and the Pollentia archaeological site complement each other perfectly — a single ticket covers both. If you visit the ruins first, the museum lets you deepen those impressions with the original artefacts and city models. The museum sits directly opposite the excavation site.

The Building & Location

The museum is located at Carrer de Sant Jaume 30 in the historic centre of Alcúdia, within a striking 14th-century building that once served as a hospital. The building itself is part of the experience.

Who Will Enjoy It?

The museum is compact and well suited to families with children. Anyone visiting the nearby archaeological site will find it a natural and rewarding final stop. Do bear in mind that the exhibition panels are predominantly in Spanish and Catalan — English-speaking visitors may want to factor this in beforehand.

What languages are the exhibition panels in?
The panels are predominantly in Spanish and Catalan. English-language labelling is largely absent.
How long should I set aside for a visit?
