Description

Olleria Sa Roca Llisa 26 is a pottery workshop in Marratxinet with a craft tradition dating back to 1861.

Four Generations of Pottery

The story of the workshop begins in 1861, when Pepe Serra Rigo from the Can Tiet pottery left a plot of land to his sons so they could set up on their own. The site was locally known as Sa Roca Llisa — named after the shape of a rock found there — and eventually gave both potteries their name. Today, Pep Serra Amengual runs the business as the fourth generation of the family.

Range & Production

The focus is firmly on traditional Mallorcan ceramics and pottery, including greixoneres (fired earthenware casseroles, a staple of Mallorcan cooking) in a wide range of sizes, as well as plant pots. Everything is produced on site — you can watch the workshop in action right there in the building. The range covers various patterns, colours and sizes; if you're after handcrafted one-offs or highly personalised pieces, this is primarily a place for a broad standard selection. Prices are noticeably lower than in coastal shops and markets, where the products are also available.

Finding the Workshop

The pottery is located at Carrer de sa Roca Llisa 26 in Marratxinet. Several other pottery workshops can be found along the same street.
