Description
The Palau de Marivent is a historic palace with publicly accessible gardens in the Ponent district of Palma — and the summer home of the Spanish Royal Family.
History & Significance
The palace was built between 1923 and 1925 as the private residence of the painter Juan de Saridakis. After his death, his widow handed the estate over to the Diputació de les Illes Balears in 1966, and in 1973 it was transferred to the Spanish Royal Family, who have used it as their Mallorcan summer retreat ever since.
The Gardens & Miró Sculptures
The grounds are open to the public free of charge. Well-kept lawns, shaded paths and benches make the gardens a relaxing place to explore. Twelve sculptures by Joan Miró are dotted throughout the grounds, adding a striking artistic dimension to the visit. The Fondació Miró is around 500 metres away.
Location & Views
The estate sits at Avinguda de Joan Miró 243 in the Ponent neighbourhood of Palma, right by the sea. The gardens offer sweeping views across the western part of the bay — particularly breathtaking at sunset.
