Description
The Parròquia de Sant Sebastià is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Camp d'en Serralta neighbourhood of Palma.
Construction & History
Building work on the parish church began in the early 1940s, with a large portion of the structure completed within two years of breaking ground. Work continued over the following decades and was not fully finished until the early 1980s. The church is dedicated to Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of Palma.
Interior & Features
The interior is characterised by a bright, warm atmosphere. Particularly striking are the stained-glass windows and stone walls, which give the space a quality all of its own. A crypt is also present and draws particular attention from visitors. For many members of the congregation, the peal of the bells is a familiar and cherished sound of the neighbourhood. The building is well looked after and kept in excellent condition.
In the Camp d'en Serralta Neighbourhood
The church stands on Carrer Rafael Rodríguez Méndez 9 in the Ponent district of Palma. Situated in the heart of a lively residential area, it has been a cornerstone of local community life for decades.
Visiting & Reflection
The church is a wonderful space for quiet contemplation and reflection. It welcomes both members of the congregation and those with an interest in urban heritage. The parish is open to all, and the interior — with its stained-glass windows and crypt — is well worth a visit for anyone drawn to architecture and cultural history.
