Description

The Plataforma d'observació de la depuradora de l'Albufera is a birdwatching platform on the edge of the s'Albufera wetland treatment works in Mallorca.

Birdwatching at the Treatment Works

The observation platform sits at the far end of the s'Albufera treatment works, overlooking the site itself and the surrounding stretches of water. Several purpose-built hides allow you to observe wading birds and other species at close quarters without causing any disturbance. The spot is well regarded among birdwatchers, particularly in spring during migration. A circular trail runs along the perimeter of the site and can also be explored by bike — a road bike isn't suitable, but a hybrid is perfectly up to the job.

Getting There & Access

The platform is reached via Unnamed Road, 07458. The access track is unsurfaced, potholed, and can flood after heavy rain — in which case turning back or accepting wet feet are your only options. Parking on arrival is very limited; there is space for around four vehicles. Signage on site is sparse, so keep that in mind when navigating.
