Platja d'Alcanada
Description
Platja d'Alcanada is a pebble beach on Mallorca, defined by its offshore lighthouse islet and the sweeping pine forest that surrounds it.
Beach & Water
The beach is made up of pebbles and stones rather than sand, so water shoes are well worth bringing for entering the sea. The water is clear, and the view across to the small offshore islet with its lighthouse is the defining feature of the spot. Shallow areas close to the shore make it accessible for families, and kayaking and paddle surfing are popular activities here.
Pine Forest & Atmosphere
A generous pine forest lines the beach and provides natural shade throughout the day. The atmosphere is calm and well away from the bustle of mass tourism. On Sundays, locals tend to come for picnics, which brings a noticeably livelier feel. Dog owners are a familiar sight too — part of the beach towards the lighthouse is open to dogs.
Facilities
Public toilets are available on site, though there are no showers. There is no beach service or lifeguard cover. Bins are provided, though they can get quite full during busier periods.
Location & Getting There
The beach sits along Carrer del Far, 07400, Illes Balears. A car park is located at the entrance near the golf club. Footpaths and cycle routes run along the coast and towards the lighthouse, making it easy to explore on foot or by bike.
