Platja de Cala Conills
Description
Platja de Cala Conills is a small, rocky cove in the municipality of Andratx – less a classic sandy beach than a natural inlet with crystal-clear water and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.
Character of the Cove
Cala Conills is not a sandy beach in the traditional sense, but a rocky sea inlet. Entry into the water is over stone, so water shoes are strongly recommended – the rocks can be slippery and sharp. The water itself is crystal clear, and the seabed is fascinatingly varied, with rock formations, small cave features along the shoreline, and a rich density of fish. Sea urchins have also been spotted in the cove, so do watch your step.
Snorkelling & Swimming
The cove is regarded as an excellent snorkelling spot: the clear water and varied underwater terrain offer great visibility, and you'll find plenty of fish of all shapes and sizes in the shallow coastal area. If you're planning to snorkel or dive, bring your own mask.
Views & Sunset
From the cove and the raised area near the car park, you get sweeping views out over the open sea and across to the island of Sa Dragonera. At dusk in particular, it's well worth climbing up to the viewpoint to the left of the car park – from there you can also take in a lovely panorama of Sant Elm.
Location & Getting There
Cala Conills sits at the southern end of Sant Elm, Andratx, at the end of Carrer Cala es Conills. Parking is available directly beside the cove.
Good to Know
The cove is completely natural, with no facilities such as toilets or showers on site. Dogs are welcome at this beach. Spots to settle in – some overlooking the cove, others with open sea views – are spread out enough that you can usually find a quieter corner even when it's busier.
