Platja de Muro
Description
Platja de Muro is a long sandy beach on Mallorca's northern coast, with bright, fine sand and strikingly clear turquoise water.
Sand, Water and Nature
The shoreline here is defined by gently shelving, shallow water — entry into the sea is gradual and easy. Near the beach lies a nature reserve, and the landscape is shaped by dunes and a backdrop of pine trees. At certain times of year, particularly in spring, larger quantities of seagrass can wash ashore — especially in the stretch closest to the nature reserve. This is part of the natural rhythm of this stretch of coastline and is worth bearing in mind when planning your visit.
Size and Sections
The beach stretches a considerable distance along the coast, though it is relatively narrow in many places. In high season, finding a spot can be tricky despite its length. Quieter sections are found away from the main access point and near the nature reserve. Part of the beach is designated as a naturist area. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire.
Location and Getting There
Platja de Muro sits in the north of Mallorca. If you're arriving by car, setting off early is advisable as parking fills up quickly in high season. A boardwalk leads from the beach access point directly down to the water's edge.
