Platja de Ses Assucenes is a natural beach on Mallorca, reachable only on foot via a coastal walking path.
Sandy beach in a nature reserve
The beach sits within a protected nature reserve and has the feel of a truly unspoilt spot: the water is crystal-clear and turquoise, and the sandy shore is wide and open. Because the area is protected, the beach is not cleaned — at the start of summer, seaweed can wash up in great heaps along the waterline. Algae in the water are equally a natural part of this place.
Getting there
The beach is accessible on foot only. From Son Real the walk takes around an hour; from C'an Picafort and Son Bauló it's roughly 45 minutes along the coastal path in either direction. Those walking through the nature park reach the beach at the end of the route. As there are no facilities whatsoever in the reserve, it's well worth bringing plenty of water, food and sun protection.
Who the beach is suited to
The beach is particularly well suited to swimming and draws a calm, nature-loving crowd. If you're after peace and quiet away from the bustle of mass tourism, this secluded spot fits the bill perfectly. Naturists can occasionally be found here too.
