Platja de Ses Cavasses
Description
Platja de Ses Cavasses is a small, rocky cove on Mallorca's north-east coast, just north of Cala Agulla in the municipality of Capdepera.
Rocks, clear water and peace and quiet
This is no classic sandy beach: the shoreline is made up mostly of rocks and stones, with only a small patch of sand remaining. The water is exceptionally clear and very shallow — you can wade out a long way without needing to swim. That's exactly what makes the cove such a popular snorkelling spot: fish are easy to spot just below the surface. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended at the water's edge, as the entry point involves slippery rocks.
Quieter than the neighbouring cove
Compared to the adjacent Cala Agulla, Ses Cavasses sees noticeably fewer visitors. The natural, unspoilt surroundings — low cliffs and pine trees — give the place its distinctive character. There are no facilities whatsoever on site: no toilets, no beach bar, nothing of the sort.
Getting there
The old car park right by the cove has been closed off due to the nature reserve. If you're coming by car, follow the signs towards Cala Agulla and park there. A natural footpath leads from there to the cove — sturdy footwear is just as useful for the walk as it is at the water. The cove can also be reached by boat.
