Platja del Rei is a small, unspoilt sandy cove on Mallorca, tucked between pine trees and rocky cliffs on the south-west of the island.

The turquoise, crystal-clear water is shallow with a gently sloping seabed — perfect for a leisurely swim or a spot of snorkelling. Look closely beneath the surface and you'll spot colourful fish and sea urchins. The sandy beach itself is compact, with the water shifting through beautiful shades of blue. The pine forest directly behind the beach provides natural shade, making a lovely alternative to sun loungers and parasols. If you prefer something a little rockier, the cliffs and flat rock ledges surrounding the cove are great for sunbathing too.
Two Coves Side by Side
Right next door lies Cala Mago, a naturist beach. The two coves share the same car park: at Platja del Rei, turn left for the main beach and right for the nudist area. If you're arriving by car, the easiest approach is to set your sat-nav to the Cala Mago car park — this keeps you clear of the residential streets that a direct route to Platja del Rei can sometimes lead you into.
Facilities & Amenities
This is a natural, undeveloped cove: there are no toilets, showers, or changing facilities, and no restaurant or refreshment stand. A kiosk on site has been closed for some time. If you need provisions or facilities, it's worth coming well prepared.

Platja del Rei sits under postcode 07181 on the south-west coast of Mallorca. A large gravel car park is located a short way above the beach, with additional spaces closer to the shore — both are free of charge. Given the cove's modest size, it fills up quickly as the day goes on, so an early arrival gives you the best chance of securing a spot.
